About Tracy Robinson

This law blog has evolved over time.  Originally, this website was a traditional site providing information for my law firm, The Robinson Law Firm, P.C., which was based in Austin, Texas.  I learned a lot building and managing website and even attracted a good bit of quality legal work for my practice through it and some other legal and online marketing tools I employed.

Then Hurricane Katrina came at the end of August 2005 and changed my life.  You may be wondering how a hurricane in New Orleans could change my life in Austin, Texas.  To make a long story short, my family as had a business in New Orleans for over 30 years and we were all needed to help out everything back together.  My husband and I left within days with our special entry permits in hand, our truck loaded with everything from Spam to office supplies.  One trip turned into two, which turned into three, and pretty soon it became apparent that our futures lay in New Orleans.

I am now General Counsel for the family companies and also an investor in New Orleans real estate and an affordable housing consultant.  We have already renovated 3 flooded houses and are starting on our fourth.  I am going to chronicle our new project on my new website- New Orleans Real Estate Gumbo.  My consulting business is on the web at Housing Louisiana Now.

Since there is clearly some history for this website, I decided to leave the name as Austin Counsel even though I only spend part of my time in Austin.  I will be blogging on Texas and Louisiana law (I'm licensed to practice law in both Texas and Louisiana), legal marketing, legal technology (and office technology in general) and the art of blogging and online marketing.

How interesting.

We just moved my mother from New Orleans to Austin last week to live with my sister. Lawyers involved on both ends due to durable POT's, setting up trusts, etc. The disposition of her real estate is still an issue, but we'll get it figured out.

Wish I'd found your blog before we started all that.
